New Strength for Old Heroes!

Forget everything you know about Aran, Evan, and Dual Blades. With new skills and improved game balance, these three classes return on Oct 19th more powerful than ever!

This update will focus on skill balancing and will mark the return of Dual Blade and the two heroes Aran and Evan. Everyone will be able to create a Dual Blade character again, but this is limited for the Winter season only.

[Update] Chaos Information Maplechaos-dualblade1

Dual Bladers will be improved and will receive several new skills such as Blade Fury (left), Vital Steal and Phantom Blow (right).

[Update] Chaos Information Maplechaos-aran1

The Aran class will come back with a new look, stronger and better. Arans will receive new skills like Combo Judgement. Combo Judgement can attack multiple enemies by dropping a giant axe. Monsters hit by the giant axe are frozen and will be suffering from damage over time.
A skill that can create an instantaneous combo count and more.
Some skills were moved to an earlier job advancement and had their combo count required changed.

[Update] Chaos Information Maplechaos-evan1

The second hero that makes his comeback in the ‘Chaos’ update is Evan. The attacking speed of Evan was greatly improved. Along with Aran and Dual Blade, Evan got a bunch of new skills as well.
- Dragon Blink: Teleports you to a random location in the map.
- Dragon Sparking: With a certain success rate, you can deal extra damage. (The skill looks like Paralyze, look carefully in the video because it’s there)
- Protection of the Onyx: For a period of time, you can give you and your party members extra avoidability.
- Will of the Onyx: For a period of time, you can prevent yourself getting knock-backed from a monster’s attack and able to attack with your body.

New Voices!

Even if you can defeat the Empress, don’t expect her to go silently. Voiceovers in the Cygnus and Chief Knights battle as well as in the Lion King’s Castle will forever change the way you communicate with NPCs in Maple World.

[Update] Chaos Information Queen

Empress Cygnus and her knight succeeded in searching for the World Tree, but they have fallen into the Black Magician trap. The Black Magician took over their soul thus making them his puppets. The Island of Ereve lost its holy power and crashed to Victoria Island.

Age of Artisans - New Professions and Traits Systems & Age of Battle - Player-vs-Player!

Chaos is a time of change and uncertainty in Maple World. Alliances have become strained and broken and Maplers will soon begin turning on each other. The most important ally you can have now is yourself.

While training for combat is an important part of making it through Chaos unscathed, it won’t be enough. Become the self-sufficient, holistic Mapler you need to be in the tough days ahead with the new Professions and Traits Systems!

[Update] Chaos Information Harvest

Professions

Once your character has reached level 30 and has gone through the 2nd Job Advancement, you may choose to begin a Profession. To start, you will need to head to Ardentmill, where the Profession Masters reside. Ardentmill can be accessed by passing through the portal labeled “Crafting Town” in most towns on Victoria Island and many other towns throughout Maple World.

[Update] Chaos Information 00CRf-12d903c1-c4ad-40f1-b5af-8438bbfa67e0

Professions are divided into two categories: Harvesting and Crafting. The Harvesting skills are prerequisites to the Crafting skills, and essentially provide you with the means to gather the materials you will need for Crafting.

Harvesting

Harvesting consists of Herbalism and Mining.

[Update] Chaos Information Profession-herbs

Herbalism: Allows you to gather flowers and seeds to create herbal oil which you can use in item and potion production.
      - To learn Herbalism, you must talk to NPC Saffron, who will ask for a small fee and then lead you through a tutorial and a short quest in order to gain the skill.
      - Herbalism is the prerequisite for learning Alchemy.

    [Update] Chaos Information Profession-miningrocks

Mining: Allows you to gather gems and ores to create refined ores which you can use to craft items and potions.
      - To learn Mining, you must talk to NPC Cole, who will ask for a small fee and then lead you through a tutorial and a short quest in order to gain the skill.
      - Mining is the prerequisite for learning Smithing and Accessory Crafting.

Crafting

Once you have learned either Herbalism or Mining, you will be able to take on one Crafting skill -- Smithing, Accessory Crafting, or Alchemy.

Smithing: Allows you to create various armors and weapons using refined ore.
      - To learn Smithing, you must first learn Mining, then speak to NPC Gere.

Accessory Crafting: Allows you to create various pendants, shoulder accessories, rings and other trinkets using refined ore.
      - To learn Accessory Crafting, you must first learn Mining, then speak to NPC Intaglio.

Alchemy: Allows you to create buff potions and transformation potions using herb oil.
      - To learn Alchemy, you must first learn Herbalism, then speak to NPC Ally.

Once you have learned Smithing, Accessory Crafting, or Alchemy, get started putting your new Production skills to use! Press the B key to see the items you can create as well as the materials (and sometimes recipes) required for each. To begin, you will need to head to the machine that corresponds to your particular skill.

    • For Smithing, go to the Large Forge behind Gere.
    • For Accessory Crafting, head over to the Large Gem Crafting Machine behind Intaglio.
    • For Alchemy, head to the large Magic Book behind Ally.

Harvesting and crafting are hard work! As you complete Profession activities you will accumulate Fatigue Points. Once you have met your daily Fatigue Point quota, you will no longer be able to work on your Professions. Worry not, artisans! Fatigue Points are reset daily at 12 AM (+8 GMT). Your Fatigue Points will also be reduced by five each hour, and for the truly eager Mapler, Fatigue Reset Coupons are available in the Cash Shop.

You may access and track your progress in your Professions by clicking the B key. If you wish to remove a Profession skill, you will need to return and speak to the respective Profession Master from which you learned it.

You now have the power to forge your own future, Maplers!

Capture the Flag Mode
You may activate Capture the Flag mode through NPC Crawson inside Battle Square.

[Update] Chaos Information CTF_Banner

6 players are required to activate Capture the Flag mode. Players will be drafted randomly into either the Blue Team or the Red Team.

How to win the game?

[Update] Chaos Information Capture_the_Flag

To win a Capture the Flag PvP mode, players will have to capture the opponent’s team flag. The first team to capture the opposing team flags for 3 times win the game. However, each Capture the Flag mode will last for 10 minutes. Therefore, each team will have to capture all the flags within the time limit to win the game.

Note:
For Capture the Flag in Legend Mode, you will need to capture 5 times of the flag to win the game.

What is Capture the Flag?

Capture the Flag’s basic premise is obvious from its name. Two teams (Red and Blue) of up to six Maplers each appear on a multi-level battlefield. There is a flag at each end of the field. When the game begins, each team must try to steal the other team’s flag and return it to their own base while retaining control of their own flag. When this condition is met, that team gets one point. The game lasts for twenty minutes or until one team gets three points.

Getting Started
To begin a PvP session, your character must be level 30 or above. Then, do the following:

• Speak with Maximus, located in any major town, to be teleported to Battle Square.

• Once in Battle Square, speak with NPC Crawson. This will bring up the Battle Mode window. This window allows you to select what type of PvP game you wish to play and what tier you wish to play in. Select “Capture the Flag” to start a Capture the Flag match.

• Click the START button. The game will search for opponents and then bring you into a Capture the Flag match.

[Update] Chaos Information 00CmZ-c75be855-e257-4845-bfc3-3f3be10059f0

Playing Capture the Flag
A Capture the Flag match can be played with between six and twelve participants. The system will not begin a match with less than six players. Each end of the Capture the Flag battlefield has platform has a flag on it with the team’s color. This is referred to as that team’s “Base.” There are also areas above and below the base which are referred to as the “Revive” area. Players who are killed during a Capture the Flag match will reappear in one of these areas in five seconds.

[Update] Chaos Information 00CmZ-110d8bd5-540c-4b9e-990b-34f379ddc9be

The object of the game is to capture the other team’s flag and bring it back to your base without allowing your flag to be captured. Your team receives one point each time you successfully do this. The first team to score three points is declared the winner. If neither team has scored three points after twenty minutes, the team with the highest point total is declared the winner.

The Flag
In order to pick up a flag, press the “Pick-up” key (default: Z) while standing over the flag. The flag will appear over the head of the character that is carrying it. A character will only drop a flag if they are killed. Should the flag carrier be killed, the flag will be dropped where the character died and can be picked up by the first character to reach it with 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, the flag will automatically return to its home base.
While it is in your base, your own flag can only be picked up by members of the enemy team. Should your flag be dropped on the battlefield, you may pick up your flag to return it to your base. A point cannot be scored until your own flag has been returned to your base.

[Update] Chaos Information 00CmZ-be4089b2-8e06-4463-aacf-8e968649460c

Capture the Flag Gameplay
There are a number of differences between a Capture the Flag match and standard MapleStory gameplay.

• There is no lasting negative to being killed in PvP. Within five seconds you will be revived in one of the Revive areas to continue the battle.

• Consumable items such as potions and foods cannot be used.

PvP Rewards
Battle Experience
As in other PvP modes, everyone will receive Battle Experience points at the end of a Capture the Flag match. The match winners will receive a higher amount of points. Like regular experience, Battle Experience accumulates and periodically contributes to a rise in your Battle Rank. Battle Rank offers a variety of benefits and is completely separate from your character’s level.

Battle Points
Battle Points can be exchanged for Gallant Emblems through the BP Exchanger in Battle Square. You can use Gallant Emblems to purchase exclusive items from Larson, another NPC in Battle Square.

These items include a variety of accessories as well as a Mystery Scroll that turns into a random scroll when you use it and a Mystery Recipe that turns into a random crafting recipe when you use it. Gallant Emblems are also used as ingredients for some crafting recipes. There are also three special Honorable 7-day medals that are awarded for various actions on the battlefield.

[Update] Chaos Information 00CmZ-9ec613d3-095d-45d6-bdb8-2d6a9caf33ca

Battlefield Wisdom
• Work together! Everyone on your team can’t go after the flag. Be sure to leave defenders to protect your own flag.

• Remember that you can’t score if your own flag is out of the base. If you’re carrying the enemy flag while your own flag is out, keep moving while your teammates try to recapture it. Standing still will make you a target.

• Pick up your own flag if it’s dropped by an opponent to immediately return the flag to your base. If you leave it alone, it will automatically return to your base after 10 seconds.
